Almanac of Architecture - Spatial analyses

The Almanac of Architecture is an achievement of a tremendous research project of Boris Podrecca and his team at the University of Stuttgart.

The book presents 100 selected buildings – beginning in the ancient world right up to the present day, including a number of examples of anonymous architecture. Instead of a chronological arrangement of buildings, this volume focuses on a spatial analysis such as Central Space, Longitudinal Space, Addition of Space, Core and Shell, Light, Frame, Free Form and Spatial Theses. This spatial typology puts the buildings in a new and exciting correlation. Referring this position, the Great Mosque of Córdoba and a housing estate of Jørn Utzon are structurally related.

Remarkable analysis drawings accompanied by images and a short text in German and English make the classic buildings accessible and allow a journey to the centre of architecture.
