The entire building is covered with straw, a traditional cladding that will link the building to the wetlands were it stands. The roof ridge, the most sensitive part of a thatched roof, will be covered with glass and thereby illuminating the exhibitions.

The visitor centre is connected with a watchtower overlooking the wetlands by a meandering path.
