Shopping Square Meydan, Istanbul, Turkey

Outstanding architecture in conjunction with ground breaking technology: These are the characteristics of the Shopping Square "Meydan" which was opened in August 2007 by the METRO Group Asset Management in Istanbul. The building complex represents a new generation of trade property. With a natural roof-meadow, fluent transitions of structures and a spacious plaza, the star architects of Foreign Office Architects (FOA) London created a modern marketplace for the district Ümraniye.
The Meydan acts also under ecologic aspects as a role model: one of the biggest geothermal-energy plant takes care of air conditioning. "The combination of a future-oriented power supply and smart architecture turns the shopping mall into a wolrd-premiere" explained professor Michael Cesarz, spokesman of the executive board of METRO Group Asset Management.
