Location
LocationNestled between the high Tauers to the north-west and the Karnic Alps to the south, Kärnten presents itself as a mosaic of different landscapes. Its charm and diversity is sought after throughout Europe. Austria's most southern state attracts visitors with its mild climate and southern flair. Situated around the urban centres of Klagenfurt and Villach is a ring of lakes that are amongst the warmest in Europe with water being of drinking quality. They guarantee a most pleasurable swimming experience. A healthy outdoors environment together with perfect infrastructure create the ideal place for mountain climbing, hiking, swimming, horse riding or golf, as well as water sports and skiing in winter. Amidst these idyllic surroundings lies Velden. It has a reputation for being the undisputed favourite of high society; a place to see and be seen. The charming little town on the western shore of the lake offers many activities as well as plenty of opportunity to rest, relax and enjoy. The newest star in the Capella constellation is the rebirth of a famous European Grand Hotel in Europe: Capella Hotels and Resorts and the Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank International AG reopened Castle Velden, the famous castle on the Lake Wörth, on 28. May 2007. The Schloss Velden GmbH, that belongs to the Kärntner Holding Beteiligungs AG (100% subsidiary company of Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank International AG), acquired the five star deluxe estate along with its huge property directly on the Wörther Lake from the German industrialist and photographer, Gunter Sachs, for a sum of 22 million euro. Castle Velden, built in 1603, was renovated and extended by 50 private residences by the international financial institution. Stiller and Hohla, as international partner of Christie's Great Estates, is selling these residences. |
