Project Overview
Rolex Learning Center Lausanne, Switzerland © EPFL The oldest buildings on our Ecublens campus date back 30 years. They were built for a classic teaching model. This model is still valid for teaching the basic sciences such as mathematics and physics. For the evolving sciences, for example life sciences, environmental and information sciences, the teaching model is more varied. Knowledge transfer takes advantage of the most modern communication methods, multidisciplinary work becomes the rule and contact with professors is therefore more dynamic. It’s within this context that the Learning Center, as designed and built by its architects, SANAA, plays a key role in the development of EPFL. It is strategically placed to become the new heart of our campus. It will function as a center for exchanges of all kinds and will be equipped with the flexibility to meet its users' varied needs. The Learning Center will house our libraries’ multimedia centers, cafeterias and the A3 rooms. Client:
