Concept

Visitor flows are regulated on site. The entrance leads directly on to a large tree-lined avenue interspersed with green spaces. This area, for display purposes, follows the outline of the pavilion. The surrounding wall is breached by a number of clear vertical gaps. These will house a reception and information desk followed by a series of national and cultural authorities, and any private entities wishing to be present. Finally, visitors will have a chance either to find out more in a display room and cinema or to enjoy some refreshments. A hidden staircase at the entrance has been converted to provide low-profile access for VIPs.

The whole exhibition area is roofed in green, while the cinema has a second floor offering a panoramic viewpoint. At a height of some 15 metres, visiting VIPs will be able to look out across the whole Expo ground and part of the city of Shanghai beyond.
