Country
CountryLuxembourg is small. Because of that fact, it often passes unnoticed. Some people have never heard of it, especially outside continental Europe. While six million Chinese tourists visited France in 2006, only 100.000 found their way to Luxembourg.
Pavilion visitors will be able to find out the many advantages of living in a small country. One of the most welcome is that this is a peaceful country, a country on a human scale. Here authorities and leaders are close to their people: a rarity. Luxembourg has prioritized energy problems, sustainability, ecology, aesthetics and rural life. It can be described as a beautiful country because its people seek quality in general. Their most important motto is 'small is beautiful too.' In Chinese 'lúsen bao' means forest and fortress. That is why Luxembourg's pavilion, designed in steel to represent its country's architecture, nevertheless incorporates green spaces. By modifying the scale and transforming the shape of traditional Luxembourg houses, the project's authors have sought to maximise symbiosis between the architectures of China and Luxembourg. They have studied functions and movement patterns on the theme of 'lúsen bao,' linking them with Chinese Feng-Shui philosophy. |
