King Fahad National Library, Riad, Saudi-Arabia

The design for the library, which gained 1st prize in the competition of 2002, plays a major role in the reordering of the city. Integrating the old cupola-roofed library, the building encased by a filigree dress made of textile triangles respectfully combines regional building traditions with technological state-of-the-art. Gerber Architekten international will realize the building with cooperating engineers of Bollinger+Grohmann and DS-Plan, Germany. Completion is scheduled for the middle of 2010.
