City Development
City Development![]() © Saudconsult Beyond a merely general sign the building acts as the core of a city strip in the midst of vehement development, the field-like structure of which receives a new order through the inclusion of public spaces planned by Gerber Architekten international as well. The existing park was replanned to become a generous public square with neighboring park areas. Together with the library it forms an urban unity, which serves as the connecting element between two main traffic arteries, and a new gravitation point through various accesses to the neighborhoods. The new building appears inviting and transparent; it explicitly differs from the heterogeneous urban landscape and is yet connected with its surrounding spaces. Thus the King Fahad National Library serves as the new iconographic centre of a representative district which will gain further importance in the near future. |
