Masterplan

The vision for Songdo Landmark City is a dramatic mixed-use development highlighted by a 151-story tower of considerable complexity and beauty. The tower rises above and is embraced by a self-contained 6.17 million square meter community. Within this technologically advanced environment of cutting edge opportunity, the lifestyle will consist of a city-in-a-city offering practical convenience, animated pedestrian communities and spirited awareness of participation in the 21st century growth of a new part of Korea.

In addition to attracting an international population, Songdo Landmark City will allow Korean people to enjoy a new lifestyle choice in terms of how they live and how they do business. This vision is in support of Korea’s economic goals of being the most modern, sophisticated and strategically positioned of all major Asian societies.

Within Songdo Landmark City, each neighborhood operates independently of one another so that each may reach its full potential and address specifically the market demands and cultural needs of those who reside there. In keeping with the worldwide recognition of the need for environmental sustainability, carbon reduction and efficient, convenient living, these new communities are planned to achieve the densities and housing types that make livable, non-auto dependent communities practical. As a fundamental urban design principal, ground level outdoor spaces are public spaces, interconnected with the paths and bicycle lanes to avoid even the suggestion of gated communities. The neighborhoods are organized so that every resident has access within a ten-minute walk of stores and daily needs.
