By 2010 the Elbphilhamonie will have been constructed on the western point of the Harbour City, the biggest inner city development area in Europe. The Elbphilharmonie will be a new and impressive addition to Hamburg, and it is designed to house one of the best concert halls in the world.

The new complex will house three concert halls, one hotel with an international conference centre, apartments, a 37 meter high plaza and ample parking bays in the wharf basement. This spectacular construction in a towering location will allow Hamburg to become a metropolis that can compete internationally in a new way. The Elbphilharmonie will be a new landmark for the city and a place open to all Hamburgers and their visitors from all over the world.

The residents of Hamburg have responded to the Elbphilharmonie with an incomparable enthusiasm. Approx. 64 million Euros have been donated by residents in one year to finance the construction - an unbelievable sum by German standards.
