Architect and Developer
Architect:
The design of the Elbphilharmonie was done by the world renowned architects Herzog & de Meuron. Notable constructions by these architects are the Tate Modern in London, the Allianz Arena in Munich and the De Yong Museum in San Francisco. The national stadium in Peking for the 2008 Olympic Games was also designed by Herzog & de Meuron. In 2001 Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron were awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the most prestigious prize in architecture.
Developer:
The Elbphilharmonie is a project in Public Private Partnership (PPP). Developer for the city of Hamburg is the "ReGe Hamburg Projekt-Realisierungsgesellschaft mbH". The manager of the company, former state secretary Hartmut Wegener, was entrusted with the project management by the senate of the city of Hamburg. The director of the Elbphilharmonie is responsible for the running of the Elbphilharmonie, the Laeisz Hall and the Board of Culture.
