Urban Design
Urban DesignThe exposed site at the Überseeplatz close to the Elbe, the numerous cantilevers, especially the freeform towards the San-Francisco-Street, the design of the entrance situation, the connective inner courtyard and the terrace level with the restaurant generate a strong locality and uniqueness. At ground floor the transparent, free shaped hotel entrance sticks out of the facade line. As a vitreous illuminant this shape forms a recognisable entrance towards the Überseeplatz, but also to the San-Francisco-Street. From a distance the entrance area is emphasized by the offset of the base volume in combination with the step out of the glass-sculpture and the strong overhang of the hotel levels above the San-Francisco-Straße. The clear definition of access, entrance and the path finding system facilitates easy orientation to the visitors, thus the hotel guests, the visitors of the restaurant and the cruise travellers can experience the spatial distinctions of the building. The inner courtyard is a warm and welcoming place that invites to stay. |
