Project Overview
Centre Pompidou-Metz, France![]() The Centre Pompidou-Metz - general view from the South © CA2M / Shigeru Ban Architects Europe & Jean de Gastines / Artefactory The Centre Pompidou-Metz shares the vocation of the original Centre Pompidou: to present and help discover all forms of artistic expression, to raise public awareness of the major works of the 20th and 21st century, and to take part in Europe’s cultural landscape. In short: represent a major centre for exhibitions and artistic initiative, and a reflection of contemporary creation. The Centre is France's first national cultural institution to embark on a policy of decentralisation, reinventing its original model in a new geographical region, and upholding its core values: open outreach to all sectors of the public, and generous, inclusive support of contemporary creative art in all its forms. The Centre Pompidou-Metz represents a strong commitment and a signficant challenge. As a social and cultural project, it typifies the Centre Pompidou's fresh strategic approach, with a renewed focus on its fundamental vocation, to serve as a platform for exchange between society at large, and the contemporary arts scene.
