Main Roof, Double Cone, Café and Roof Restaurant
Main Roof
The dynamic LED light surface decorates the underside of the wave like roof and gives the Busan Cinema Center its symbolic and representative iconographic impression.
Light installations, custom designed for the most varied PIFF events or for events of the city, can be programmed by artists and lighting creators and be displayed as fully animated graphics on the roof. These light animations create a lively, urban atmosphere at night, but are also visible during the day.
Embedded in the architecture, the light surface serves as a communication platform for the content of the Busan Cinema Center. Light as art, which is the very nature of cinema, creates a unique and incomparable atmosphere for the open urban center and the architecture of PIFF.
Double Cone, Café and Roof Restaurant
The Double Cone is a symbolic emblem and the sculptural entrance to the Busan Cinema Center. It connects the CineMoutain and the PIFF Hill. The Double Cone, designed as a steel-mesh-bowl on concrete fittings, is the only vertical support structure for the large protruding cantilever roof. It functions as a monumental supporting structure and provides rigidity.
There is a café on the ground floor of the Double Cone with an outside area. In the roof space there is a highly esteemed restaurant with a bar and lounge as well as a view onto the APEC Park and river. Access to these amenities is via the Double Cone.
During the festival the Double Cone marks the Red Carpet Zone and the VIP entrance to the Busan Cinema Center. It can be used as a waiting area for VIPs at events or to parade over the red carpet to the stage of the open air cinema. It can also be used to access the upper levels of the CineMountain or the PIFF Hill foyer. These are accessed via a spiral ramp and a bridge.
