6400 parking bays

Due to the expansion of the airport and an increased demand for parking spaces a new parking garage with 6400 bays on 11 floors was constructed.

Glass-roofed inner courts that run from north to south allow light and air to enter the building and smoke to leave it. They permit the building to be classified as a large, open, above ground parking garage. The glass-roofed inner courts structure the building and ensure easy orientation.

A steal frame makes up the outer layer of the layered facade of lamella and steel cable. The scaly glass lamella of the escape stairs and the spindles on the corners of the building underline the horizontal nature of the building.

The building skeleton was erected as a composite steel and concrete structure in a foundation tank. It had an unsupported free span of 16.80m x 4.80m. The 4 underground, fire-proof parking levels were constructed using pre-cast concrete units, whereas the parking levels above ground are a steel structure.
