Geilinger-Stützen™
Get the elegance
Geilinger-Stützen™ offer striking slenderness
in visible steel with guaranteed fire resistance.
Get the speed
Geilinger-Stützen™ feature a spigot connection for an
outstanding performance in construction speed.
Geilinger-Stütze™
Scope:
Geilinger-Stütze™ is a composite column consisting of a solid
steel core within a concrete filled hollow steel section.
Benefits:
• Gain space! Minimal dimensions at very high loads
• Inherent fire resistance (1.5 hours, 2.0 hours and more)
• Small compressive strains and creep deformations
• Smooth, clean, impact-resistant steel surface
• Easy installation increases construction speed
• Best suitability for concrete building sites
• Approval by construction supervising authorities
Concept design tables
Geilinger-Stütze™ in axial compression -
Fire resistance of 2 hours incorporated
General:
The tables below give the smallest possible dimension for a
given load or the highest possible load for a given dimension.
Basic principles of design:
General design method according to Eurocode 4, considering
both physical and geometrical imperfections.
In case of fire, the standard temperature-time curve is taken
as thermal action. Load bearing capacity is obtained by
considering the temperature distriburion in the cross-section
and allowing for the mechanical and thermal properties of
steel and concrete at elevated temperatures.
Explanations:
The values in the tables are design values calculated with
a buckling length equal to the floor height L at normal
temperature (cold state) and a buckling length equal to
0.7 · L at elevated temperatures (hot state).
The tables are based on a maximum ratio of dead load to live
load of DL : LL = 3 : 1 and incorporate both the cold and the
hot state.
Installation
1 Loose steel plates
(provided with the columns). Place before installing the column.
2 Base plate
Grout with high-compression non-shrink mortar.
3 Geilinger-Stütze™
Erect, adjust and fix using adjusting struts
4 Europilz™ shear head (e.g.)
Provided loose or welded to the column, as one
option of column head construction (for punching shear)
5 Patented spigot connection
for compensating tolerances in fabrication and installation. Provides
control of position and level before installing next column.
6 Column concrete
Min. C25/30, max. aggregate 16 mm.
Concrete to be placed and compacted prior to slab reinforcement being
placed.
7 Flat slab (e.g.)
Reinforce and cast concrete.
Alternative shear connections for R.C. flat slabs, beams and walls
