Holzbau Amann constructed a second hangar for widebody aircrafts for AMAC Aerospace who were founded in 2007 and are based at the EuroAirport in Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg.

The Boeing B 747-8i defines the outlines of the flat barrel roof.

The new building opened in December 2010 and, with a width of 90m and a length of 92m, has a floor area of 8,300 square meters. The 25 meter high hall can therefore provide space for several aircrafts. The planners chose a two-hinged arch in combination with ductile fasteners (such as screws and thread rods) as the static system. This system can withstand snow- and wind as well as earthquakes.

Box girder
The halls' primary structure consists of six identical BS wooden arcs in the form of box girders, in combination with elevated half-timbered supports at the outer third of the arc.

Deformation by snow and wind had to be strongly constrained, particularly at the gates, which span the entire width of the building.

AMAC Aerospace AG chose to use wood for its economic efficiency during construction, the environmental acceptability of the material, and its ability to provide a bright and friendly space.

Holzbau Amann have been selected to build a third hangar.
