European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage

Europa Nostra Awards 2010 announced
The European Commission and Europa Nostra have announced 29 winners from 15 countries for the 2010 Edition of the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards. This unique Awards programme highlights some of Europe’s best achievements, and showcases remarkable efforts made in safeguarding Europe’s rich architectural, landscape, archaeological and artistic heritage.

The 2010 winners have been selected from nearly 140 submitted projects, stemming from 26 countries. The awards will be presented during the 8th Annual European Heritage Awards Ceremony, taking place in Istanbul, Turkey on 10 June 2010, as part of the Europa Nostra Annual Congress. Among the 29 selected winners, 6 Grand Prix winners will be announced at the ceremony, as 2010's most outstanding examples of heritage protection.
The Awards were jointly launched in 2002 by the European Commission and Europa Nostra, in the framework of the Commission’s Culture Programme. Categories are Conservation, Research, Dedicated services and Education. A list of the winners can be found at architects24.com.

Conservation and the Eastern Mediterranean
IIC Congress 2010
The International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works IIC invites to its twenty-third biennal IIC Congress. The congress will take place from 20 to 24 September 2010 in the historic city of Istanbul, Turkey, one of Europe's Cultural Capitals for 2010. The event is held in conjunction with the Sakip Sabanci Museum, Istanbul.
Major focus of the congress events will lie on the conservation of moveable and immovable heritage in or from the Eastern Mediterranean. This will include material held in collections around the world: the care and conservation of artifacts, of sites, and the preservation of extraordinary architecture, reflecting the influences that have made the Eastern Mediterranean region one of the world’s richest centres of heritage.
