Assistance for Haiti Disaster Victims |
|
Stressing the importance of prevention measures and particularly the specific construction methods that must be mastered by architects and applied to all buildings constructed in areas at risk, the UIA Council invites architects worldwide and its Member Sections to contact humanitarian organisations present in the area in order to offer their help to the people of Haiti. |

The UIA fully supports the initiatives of the Emergency Architects Foundation that since 15 January has set up, in Haiti, an action team
for technical evaluation of the damaged buildings to guarantee the safety of the population as rapidly as possible.
UIA also invites its Member Sections to support the Foundation’s action. |

contractworld 2010 Hannover, Germany

Project “LANDSCAPE HALL”, bailo + rull / ADD + ARQUITECTURA |
The winners of the coveted international 2010 contractworld.award were recently awarded in Hannover, Germany. First prizes of the international architecture award have gone to entrants from Spain, Austria, Japan and Germany. Numerous top architectural and interior design offices had competed for Europe’s most important and lucrative award for innovative interior design concepts, now worth a total of 60,000 euros in prize money. The jury was looking for innovative interior design concepts. The principal criteria were quality, functionality and aesthetic value, as well as innovative treatment of space, materials, colour and surface texture or finish.
