Saudi Build 2009

Unrivaled opportunities for suppliers catering to the biggest construction market in the Middle East

Date: 4-7 October 2009
Venue: Riyadh International Exhibition Center, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Saudi Build is the leading construction fair in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region, organized by Riyadh Exhibition Company ltd. (REC). The 21st edition of the International Construction Technology and Building materials Exhibition will be held from 4 - 7 October 2009, at the new Riyadh International Exhibition Center. The new Riyadh International Exhibition Center is a modern international exhibition complex consisting of four halls offering 15,000m² of indoor exhibition area in addition to 5,000m² of outdoor area, ample car parking with a capacity of 1500 cars and buses, conference hall, support services, VIP reception lounge, business and press centers, restaurants and cafeterias, organizers offices.

Saudi Build 2009 is held at a time when the Saudi construction activity continues to be in good health. Real Estate and construction sectors play an important role in Saudi Arabia where the global financial crisis is said to have a little or no effect on these sectors. The Saudi construction market remains stronger than in other Gulf countries, mostly because it reflects local demand and population growth, but also because of the government’s steady involvement in the sector.

The Saudi property sector’s contribution to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is expected to grow from 6.8% in 2004 to 7.2% in 2009. Since it has one of the largest construction markets in the region, total investments in the property market is expected to soon reach $300 billion, and is expected to surpass $400 billion by 2010. Just over $120 billion is needed over the next five years for housing units. At least 1 million residential units need to be constructed to satisfy demand over the same period.

Yet, at least ten major new city and real estate projects are currently underway in Saudi Arabia. These include the King Abdullah Economic City ($30 billion), Prince Abdulaziz bin Mousaed Economic City ($7 billion), Jizan Economic City ($30 billion), Jeddah Project Mile High Tower ($10 billion), Shamieh Project ($9.3 billion), Madinah Knowledge Economic City ($7 billion), Al-Zahira City ($4 billion), Jabal Omar ($3.3 billion), Injaz ($3 billion) and Riyadh Marriland Leisure Park ($3 billion).

In addition, tourist activities in most of the parts of the Kingdom were in full swing in the past few years. As a result, the Saudi tourism and hotel sector is attracting more investment. Many new multi-million-dollar projects are in the pipeline especially in Jeddah, Mecca and Riyadh.

Saudi Build 2009 is the leading international trade exhibition catering to this lucrative sector. The last five shows have been fully sold out and were smashing successes. The 2009 edition will be the 21st in the series, guaranteed to bring the best of the world’s construction technology and products to the heart of the region’s market, where it is in greatest demand.

In spite of the global financial crisis, which has led to a construction industry slowdown elsewhere, REC, organizers of Saudi Build 2009 have decided to expand its size to accommodate the increasing numbers of exhibitors from Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, China, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Korea, Lebanon, Malta, Portugal, Spain, Slovakia, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, UK and Ukraine.

The Saudi participation this year is at a record high including leading manufacturers and traders like SABIC, Saudi Ceramics, Saudi Marble & Granite, Grundfos, Al Omran Group, Al Jawdah Engineering, SIDC, Al Mada Marble, Saudi Anfal, Alfanar, Alkoblan, Al German, Corpotrade, CTI, SAVETO, etc. presenting their latest technology, building products and equipment.

Riyadh is home to the Kingdom’s most important decision makers, and Saudi Build 2009 is sure to attract key buyers who need the most up-to-date technology and equipment available on the market. In order to maximize the number of professionals and trade buyers, and in turn business development opportunities for exhibitors, Saudi Stone 2009 will take place concurrently with Saudi Build 2009.
