ROOF+TIMBER International 2010

Date: 24 to 27 February 2010
Venue: Cologne Exhibition Centre, Cologne, Germany

Top exhibitors, exciting products and an interesting, topical programme of supporting events – that´s what the roofing and timber sector can look forward to next year in Cologne. This Rhineland metropolis will for a short time become the number one international platform for the sector. At the present time, six months before ROOF+TIMBER International kicks off, registrations have already been received from over 300 exhibitors. Between 24 and 27 February 2010, key players in the industry from Germany and abroad will be presenting their products and services at this event. They include names like Bauder, Creaton, Dörken, Du-Pont, Eternit, Fermacell, Haas, Henkel Wolfin, Icopal, Monier, Pavatex, Rheinzink, Rockwool and Velux. Already 78 percent of the total exhibition space available is accounted for. Whatever the particular interest – pitched or flat roofs, tools and machinery, tiles and timber – the visiting roofers, carpenters, plumbers, architects and engineers can look forward to a review of all the latest products. Because ROOF+TIMBER International offers solutions for the day-to-day work of building, with a firm eye on the current demands in terms of sustainability and comfort. In 2010, a key theme at the exhibition will be energy-saving.

"The requirements in terms of energy-efficiency are being tightened more and more, so the demands placed upon carpenters and roofers are also rising," explained Robert Schuster, Project Manager of the exhibition at GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen mbH. "We are responding to these needs in the range we offer at the fair – for example, with the section on insulation in Hall 7." ROOF+TIMBER International has its finger right on the pulse when it comes to modern requirements: The new energy-saving regulations coming into force in October 2009 will bring down the upper limit for annual consumption of primary energy in new-builds by around 30 percent. At the same time, the requirements for thermally insulating the outer envelope of a building are rising, also by 30 percent. Corresponding savings are the goal in modernisation projects, too. Roof renovations offer significant energy-saving potential. At ROOF+TIMBER International exhibitors will be showing visitors how to meet these stringent energy-saving demand, for example in roof windows.

Another important focus of the exhibition is on the use of solar energy (Hall 6). Corresponding modules to generate heat or electricity are becoming a common sight on roofs. For the building trades, this represents important income potential. ROOF+TIMBER International will also be taking up the theme of in-plane solutions for roofs. Some of the products offered here are solar panels and roof coverings all in one. As well as new-builds, renovation and modernisation projects, too, can benefit from exploiting solar energy. Even buildings listed as being of special historical interest.

As well as new products, the accompanying programme and special exhibitions offer valuable information. The emphasis will be on specific support in customer consultation.

ROOF+TIMBER International
ROOF+TIMBER International was held for the first time in March 2008 as a joint platform for the roofing and timber-construction trades. This premiere attracted over 48,000 trade visitors to Stuttgart. A total of 554 exhibitors from 23 countries showcased their products and services for this sector on 70,000 square metres of exhibition space. ROOF+TIMBER International spans all the products and services for the building envelope: timber construction and interiors, roofing, walls, insulation, sealing and plumbing. It is targeted primarily at carpenters, roofers, plumbers, architects, planners and engineers. The trade fair takes place every two years, at venues alternately between the south and north of Germany.
