Date: 11 to 16 April 2010
Venue: Messe Frankfurt, Frankfurt am Main, Germany
The early signs for Light+Building 2010 are good: the Exhibition Centre is
already almost fully booked. From 11 to 16 April 2010 in Frankfurt am Main, at
the world's largest innovations forum for architecture and integrated building
services engineering, trade and professional visitors will be able to see the
world's new products for lighting, electrical engineering and home and building
automation over an exhibition area of 240,000 square metres. Exhibitors will be
presenting trends and pioneering solutions related, in particular, to energy
efficiency, the central theme of Light+Building 2010. The world's leading trade
fair for architecture and technology will offer a comprehensive range of
products and services for all relevant visitor groups: architects, engineers,
planners, interior architects and designers as well as for the installation
trades, wholesalers and retailers and for industry.
"Light+Building is the only trade fair in the world, which offers state of
the art technology in a situation which combines lighting, electrical
engineering and home and building automation" says Dr. Michael Peters, Member of
the Board of Management of Messe Frankfurt. "And it is on this inter-disciplinary
concept, specifically, that the unique success of Light+Building has been based
since its premiere in 2000."

With some 1,500 companies, Light+Building creates the world's largest stage
for the lighting market. Visitors to Frankfurt get to see the entire spectrum of
lighting technology at one and the same time and in the same place - including
technical lighting and lamps of all kinds and for all sorts of applications,
designer lamps in widely varying styles - both modern and traditional - as well
as a broad selection of technical components and accessories for the lighting
market.
Technical lighting and lamps are represented in Halls 3, 4, 10.1 as well as
in the Forum and the Festhalle. Here visitors will find all the pioneering
lighting technologies such as LED lighting for commercial, industrial and public
buildings as well as for private homes. Exterior lighting for public spaces is
presented under the heading 'Urban Lighting' in Hall 5.0 and technical, design-oriented
luminaires are in Hall 1 and 5.1. Decorative lighting for commercial, public and
domestic areas, with their wide variety of styles are now housed in Halls 5.1,
6.0, 6.1 and 10.1 and technical lighting components in Hall 4.
At Light+Building 2010, there is a new optimised layout for electrical
engineering in Hall 8 and in the new Hall 11. With the inclusion of the new
hall, the comprehensive range of products will be laid out for visitors in a
clear and structured way - from cables and wiring, switches and electrical
installation to information and communications equipment. Energy-efficient
system solutions in buildings and electronic installations, electrical
installation and network technology as well as design-oriented electrical
equipment constitute the central areas of interest, for which some 450
exhibitors will be presenting the whole spectrum of building-related technology
in the field of electrical engineering. For the electrical engineering sector,
Light+Building, in combination with building automation, is the most important
platform for intelligent building services engineering.

Some 150 exhibitors in Hall 9 will be presenting future-proof solutions for
building automation, facility management and contracting work. Because it
integrates both lighting and electrical engineering, the field of home and
building automation occupies a key position when it comes to modernisation
related to energy use. Building automation systems and innovative solutions for
measurement, control and regulatory technology are crucial components of
integrative systems engineering. In addition to a comprehensive range of
products, Light+Building will also provide lectures on the latest developments
in home and building automation, within the framework of the Building
Performance Congress.
There is considerable potential for energy savings in all three areas of
Light+Building. This potential is best exploited using system solutions which
are fostered by the integrative concept of this leading world trade fair. At
Light+Building, visitors will find at a glance everything to do with green
building technologies, (i.e. eco-friendly building services engineering) - not
visionary ideas, but technologies and solutions with immediate applications. One
feature in particular sets apart future-proof products: they combine design with
innovative technology; that is to say, they combine the latest developments in
design with energy efficient solutions.
ACS, Computer Systems in the Building Industry, from 14 to 16 April 2010 in
the Congress Centre at Messe Frankfurt is an ideal complement to Light+Building.
As one of the most important platforms for information and communications
technologies, it offers architects, planners and engineers a spectrum which
ranges from software solutions and hardware, to services and specialist
information for all those involved in the building industry. In addition to the
specialist trade fair, there is the ACS Forum, with lectures and seminars which
focus on future-proof building procedures. The notional sponsor of ACS is the
Chamber of Architects and Town Planners in the State of Hesse.

Congress, trend forum and other attractions
Another feature that sets this leading world trade fair apart is an extensive
specialist complementary programme, tailored to individual visitor groups. One
of the major items on the programme is the Building Performance Congress, which,
in its dedicated events, examines in more detail the topics raised within the
product groups. Well-known experts from inside and outside Germany will give
lectures on current developments in lighting, electrical engineering and home
and building automation. The trend forum, which will present the 2011/12 trends
for the home in four domestic style-worlds, will be a draw for architects and
interior architects, specialist wholesalers and retailers and designers. Other
attractions include competitions for architecture and technology and 'Meeting
Place: The Future', where school and university students can get an overview of
the sector and its innovations.
Luminale begins when the trade fair ends
A further highlight, in the literal sense of the word, is Luminale. This
'Biennale' of lighting culture is an event that begins in the City of Frankfurt
when Light+Building shuts its doors. During its lifetime, Luminale has developed
into an event which, with its lighting 'installations' has attracted worldwide
attention. Over the last ten years, more than 500 projects have been realised
within the framework of Luminale in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region. And
another 100 pioneering projects will be on show in Frankfurt in 2010. Altogether
more than 100,000 visitors from all over the world were out and about on the
nights of Luminale in 2008.
Light+Building 2008 ended with a sensational record for the trade fair
business in terms of visitor numbers. 167,000 visitors came to see for
themselves the products offered by 2,173 manufacturers.
