Marketplace for new ideas
Date: 22 to 25 June 2011
Venue: Nuremberg Exhibition Centre, Nuremberg, Germany
Current economic forecasts allow hopes of positive development: Germany’s Gross Domestic Product increased by 2.2 % in spring 2010 compared with the preceding quarter and is by far the best in Europe. Stone+tec Nürnberg 2011, the International Trade Fair Natural Stone and Stoneprocessing Technology in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from 22–25 June 2011, is perfectly positioned for the upturn in the building and restoration market.
“We are very satisfied with the present level of applications to exhibit at
Stone+tec Nürnberg 2011,” says Elke Harreiß, Exhibition Manager of Stone+tec at NürnbergMesse. Particularly the number of applications from foreign companies is encouraging: “Many international exhibitors and organizers of pavilions have already sent in their applications or have reserved spaces,” Harreiß continues. “We will start allocating the halls for Stone+tec 2011 in October 2010 – those who apply to exhibit now in good time profit in line with the motto of “first come, first served”.
Main products at Stone+tec Nürnberg 2011
Besides the whole variety of natural stone, the focus on technology is
traditionally one of the most important aspects of Stone+tec. The exhibition in 2011 also stands out for presenting the best applications, both in terms of the spectrum of products and services from the exhibiting companies and the
additional information offered by the supporting programme.
The Peter Parler Award in 2011 will again impressively demonstrate the achievements of the stonemasonry trade in the preservation of our cultural heritage. The award is presented for exemplary high-quality work by stonemasons on listed buildings or objects of natural stone under the aspects of conservation, craft restoration, creativity and material feeling.
The German Natural Stone Award, one of the most noted architecture prizes in Germany, will be organized on a European-wide basis in 2011. The reason for this is a change in perception in order to extend the award worth 30,000 EUR to cover outstanding European-wide designs of buildings, squares and open spaces that focus on the exemplary innovative design and structural use of natural stone. The award has been presented at Stone+tec by the Deutscher Naturwerkstein-Verband (German Natural Stone Association) for 15 years and has attracted around 100 entries each time.
The Baumeister Architecture Quartet is an established format in which an architect, an architecture critic, a prominent layman interested in architecture, and Wolfgang Bachmann, Chief Editor of the architecture magazine Baumeister, discuss key issues of contemporary architecture. Sustainability in architecture is always a key topic here – especially at a get-together closely connected with architecture. At Stone+tec Nürnberg 2011, well-known architects and critics will examine three relevant natural stone buildings: interesting discussions and inspiration are guaranteed!
Sustainability in architecture will be tackled again at the Student Day. This event is based on the study published by the Deutscher Naturwerkstein-Verband on the “Life Cycle Assessment of Natural Stone” and the facade design of the 170-m high OpernTurm skyscraper of architect Christoph Mäckler in Frankfurt am Main. This event is planned in cooperation with professors and lecturers as part of the lecture programme for students at selected universities specifically occupied with stone in architecture.
An Award for Innovative and High-Quality Products will be presented at Stone+tec Nürnberg 2011 for the first time. The award is for products using natural stone and ceramic, which also incorporate new
applications. Entry is open to industrial companies and craft firms, architects,
interior designers, developers, designers and service providers working in this field.
