"Asian Real Estate Comes of Age"

Cityscape Asia 2010

Date: 18-20 May 2010
Location: Suntec City, Singapore

As economies show signs of recovery, the global property world is gradually turning its attention to Asia to uncover new opportunities in the regional investment landscape, say the organizers of the world’s largest international real estate investment event, Cityscape.

"Even though Asia's main economies are not immune to the global downturn, pricing and rentals were revived during the second half of 2009, with the total market capitalization of Asian real estate investment trust rising by 17.6 per cent - totaling an increase of 34.5 per cent for the whole year1. This growth was encouraged by China’s stimulus measures and has led several Asian markets to report positive growth during the later part of last year," said Graham Wood, Group Exhibition Director, Cityscape.

"There are currently few strategic platforms where industry professionals, leaders, policy makers and property developers can converge to discuss sentiment, opportunities and challenges in an integrated manner, which makes Cityscape Asia such an integral part of the calendar for real estate players," he added.

Themed "Asian Real Estate Comes of Age", the Cityscape Asia 2010 event, to be held at Suntec City from 18-20 May, will provide participants with all the information, insight and contacts they need to capitalize on the newest opportunities in this increasingly institutionalised market.

Top deal-makers from leading developers, banks, institutional investors and investment authorities, as well as senior officers from the foremost private equity funds and investment advisory firms, will gather at Cityscape Asia to discuss key issues and investment opportunities.

A key highlight at this year’s Cityscape Asia event is the new architecture stream that will focus on trends in urban design and sustainable communities. "Many real estate players are taking a greater interest in studying the real cost and economics of designing and developing green and sustainable projects. The speakers at Cityscape Asia will share first-hand experience and proven strategies on how to capitalise on the growing demand for green and sustainable design in Asia," said Mr Ashvinkumar s/o Kantilal, President of the Singapore Institute of Architects.

Cityscape Asia 2010 is organised with the assistance of an advisory board, which consists of industry professionals and experts such as:

  • Donald Han, Managing Director, Cushman & Wakefield
  • Pietro A. Doran, Chairman and Principal Partner, Doran Capital Partners, Korea
  • Don Lam, CEO, Vinacapital, Vietnam
  • Benett Theseira, President, Pacific Star Pte Ltd
  • George Stewart LaBrooy, CEO and Executive Director of Axis REIT Managers Bhd

In a joint statement, the board commented: "Asia is a hotbed for investment, and the Cityscape Asia event provides a unique informative and networking opportunity for participants and attendees alike."

Wood continues: "Asia has developed rapidly over the last few years. The relatively stronger fundamentals and the lack of dependence on foreign demand are seen as key advantages to mitigate the impact of the severe recession that has hit the rest of the world."

Cityscape Asia - part of the world's largest business-to-business real estate event brand - is an annual networking exhibition and conference focusing on all aspects of the real estate development cycle.

Some of the 2010 conference highlights include:

  • Attracting and retaining Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Asia
  • Redefining the role of private equity in driving Asia’s real estate recovery
  • Country-specific macro-economic assessment and market updates
  • Development and growth of Asian REITs
  • China focus sessions
  • Sector clinics: Hospitality, Residential, Retail and Offices

Cityscape Asia is an extension of the successful Cityscape Dubai, organised by IIR Middle East, which also includes Abu Dhabi, Global taking place in Dubai, India, China, Jeddah, Riyadh and South America.
