The eVolo Skyscraper Competition has become the world's most prestigious award for high-rise architecture. The contest recognizes outstanding architectural ideas. In this current, limited book edition some of the new design technologies, materials, programs and aesthetics can be seen.
Farnek Avireal, a property and facilities management company and exclusive Middle East partner of world-leading tourism sector sustainability programme Green Globe, has been named Green FM Company of the Year for 2011/12 by FM Middle East magazine.
On 3 May 2012 the winners of the Wienerberger Brick Award 2012 have been announced at a ceremony in Vienna’s City Hall. Five international architects were awarded for their outstanding work, for projects using brick as a construction material.
Nakheel announced contracts worth AED 43 million for two key projects on Palm Jumeirah, its flagship master planned development in Dubai. The company will design The Palm Mall and will work on Fond N of Palm Jumeirah. Both to complete in the next few months.
From 8 - 11 November 2012 the Domotex Middle East will take place at the CNR Expo Center in Istanbul, Turkey. Domotex is the leading trade fair for carpets and floor covernings in the MENA Region.
The design team of Studio Schiattarella and Tecturae from Italy won the competition. The objective of the winning proposal was to adhere to the specific route adopted by Saudi culture. The beduin tent is an icon and representation of the culture of Riyadh.
The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat launched the Skyscraper Center, the most comprehensive resource for data and information on tall buildings. It contains detailed profiles and images on every completed building in the world taller than 200 meters.
The term "supertall" (which refers to a building over 300 meters) is thus no longer adequate to describe these buildings: we are entering the era of the "megatall.'" This term is now officially being used by the CTBUH to describe buildings over 600 meters in height.
Leading Dubai-based interior architecture firm Pringle Brandon has identified a number of global market trends that are now beginning to shape the current regional interiors industry. Sustainability is one of them.
The second international Architects World Championship in Ski and Snowboard will be held from 2 to 5 February 2012. It will take place in Ischgl in Tyrol|Austria. Sport-loving architects and interior designers from around the world will compete in giant slalom and parallel slalom.
