Entries for the 15th annual Building Awards 2009, the biggest construction industry event of the year, is now opened. The Award Ceremony will take place on Thursday 2 April 2009 at Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. Deadline for entries 2008/12/12.

On Thursday 13 November 2008 the first Gulf States Building Awards 2008 will take place in Dubai. The winners in 15 categories will be announced during a glittering award ceremony. The shortlist for this award is now announced.

The international architectural / urban competition, Du(b)ailities: Supra_global_culture / micro_ethnic_localities, aims at intensifying a discussion by inviting young architects and students of architecture from the UAE and across the world to participate and present visions, concepts and proposals for Dubai.

Students in the fields of design and architecture all over the world can submit their innovative, trend-setting ideas for this award until January 5, 2009. The award for six categories will be honoured during the CeBIT Show on March 3, 2009 in Hanover.

A key feature of Cityscape Dubai will once again be the Cityscape Architectural Awards 2008. This year's theme will be Design for an Emerging World. The award will be presented on 6th October 2008 at Grand Hyatt Dubai. Submission deadline: 2008/09/01

The European Landscape Contractors Association honored two significant, outstanding green projects in France with the International Trend Award "Ecological Construction & Landscaping": "Les Hauts de Wissous" industrial park and "green outdoor facilities at SARL Belmonte".

With the introduction of the Zayed Future Energy Prize, Abu Dhabi aims to inspire the next generation of global energy innovators – creating solutions we can barely imagine today. The Prize will be awarded on January 19th, 2009 during the World Future Energy Summit 2009.

The 6th "Bauwelt Prize" addresses architects and landscape architects in Europe and overseas, working as individuals or in collaboration. Eligible for submission is the first work realized on one’s own responsibility and completed after January 1, 2005. Closing date for entries:15.10.2008.

The City of Helsinki organises an open international ideas competition on the planning of Koivusaari Island. The competition is open for all, languages are Finnish and English. An seminar on the competition will be held on September 1, 2008. Deadline for submission: 2008/11/10.

The international design competition for trendsetting architecture, interior architecture, product design and services moves into the second round. All winning products will be presented at the CeBIT from March 4 to 9, 2009. Registration until December 15, 2008.
