As urban lighting becomes an increasingly essential component of town planning, and a major element of a city’s identity, Philips and LUCI invite cities all over the world to celebrate their enhancement of urban living by submitting their entries until June 30, 2010.

Entries for the Emirates Glass LEAF Awards 2010 are now accepted. The awards are open to individuals and organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to the world of architecture. Submission deadline: 1 July 2009.

The World Architecture Festival (WAF) runs the biggest international architectural awards programme in the world. Projects can be submitted in 42 categories within four sections by 2 July 2010. WAF 2010 will take place for the third time from 3 to 5 November 2010.

Students and graduates of architecture, urban development, and landscape architecture can submit their entries for the Young Architect Award 2010 until 15 July 2010. The competition wants to help young architects to find their place on the current architectural scene.

Cityscape Global calls for entries for the Cityscape Awards 2010. The Awards reward excellence in architecture and design from the emerging regions of the Gulf States, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia. Submission deadline: 15 August 2010.

The German Design Council oversees and organizes the young designers’ exhibition and prize at imm cologne 2011, international furnishing show, which is named D3 Contest, since four years. Closing Date for Applications: 17. Sept.10 / Exhibition: 18 to 23 January 2011

The EU and Europa Nostra call for entries for the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards 2011. Anyone can make a nomination. Awards are distributed in four categories. Submit entry by 1 October 2010.

This competition, open to architects worldwide, is launched in two stages for the urban planning of place Lalla Yeddouna in the medina of Fez, Morocco. Preservation of the architectural heritage of the site, listed as UNESCO world heritage, is central. Registration deadline: 15 October 2010.

The Solar Decathlon Europe is an international competition open to all Students. Student teams compete to design, build, and operate highly energy-efficient, completely solar-powered houses. Closing Date for Applications: 13.10.2010
