Sustainable development and revitalization of transit hubs
The International Association for Humane Habitat (IAHH) is a voluntary organization promoting the goals and objectives of evolving humane habitat, through sustainable development, appropriate technology, innovative design and multidisciplinary approach to restructure policies, programming, planning and design for conservation, redevelopment and development.
IAHH has hosted six International Student Design Competitions since 2003 on various themes related to sustainable, affordable, appropriate humane habitats. On an average 50 entries are received from about 15 different countries. Last year they received 90 entries from 20 countries!
Hosts and Associates:
Rizvi College of Architecture is hosting the 11th International Conference on Humane Habitat at Mumbai, India. The ICHH 2009 is being organized in association with the Council of Architecture, India; Brihan Mumbai Centre of the Indian Institute of Architects; Maharashtra Association of Schools of Architecture; Indian Association of Schools of Architecture; the Forum of Colleges of Architecture, University of Mumbai and The Commonwealth Association of Architects, UK.

The 7th IAHH International Student Design Competition shall focus on the issue of development and revitalization of areas around transit hubs. As the price of petroleum products continue to rise, the importance of public transportation systems becomes more critical for the very survival of urban centers and urban agglomerations.
It is the purpose of the competition to identify areas around transit hubs in towns and cities, survey and study these areas, identify the issues and problems in revitalization, conservation and redevelopment of such areas through appropriate, creative and innovative planning and design for development of sustainable humane habitats.

Max. 5 Honourable Mentions without any cash prizes shall be given
