International Competition of Conceptual Urban Design

From water town to water city, from suburb to urban, now the misty beauty of Jiangnan Watertown is faced with the collision or mergence problem because of the rapid development.

Through inheriting the history and absorbing new concepts, the competition is to discuss the renovation of Jiangnan Watertown, to create a new urban space with its local culture, to find the ideal form of eco-friendly city planning and architecture.

From here, we leave numerous spaces for designers to create.

Jury
The distinguished international jury will be Chen Danqing, painter and critic; Benjamin Wood, AIA, Designer of Xintiandi; Augusto Cagnardi, CEO of Gregotti Associati, Italy; Ma Qingyun of MADA s.p.a.m., dean of the Architecture College in South California University; Wu Jiang, Associate Director of Shanghai Urban Planning Administration Bureau; Shi Jiaming, Vice Governor of Qingpu District; and Prof. Zhen Shiling, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, will chair the jury.

Prizes
The total prize money is YEN 320,000 to be distributed as below:
1st Prize, 1 person, 120,000 RMB (traveling) fund
2nd Prize, 3 persons, 60,000 RMB (traveling) fund
3rd Prize, 6 persons, 15,000 RMB (traveling) fund
Public Choice Prize, 1 person, 20,000 RMB (traveling) fund

The winning and commended projects will be published in a special issue of di Magazine in April, 2009. And a book about the competition will be released in 2009.
