universal design award 09
The international design competition for trendsetting architecture, interior
architecture, product design and services moves into the second round. Starting
immediately, product and graphic designers, manufacturers, service providers and
service designers as well as architects and interior architects are invited to
enter their innovative products and concepts in the competition for the
universal design award 09.
The universal design award 09 competition, organized by universal design GmbH
in Hannover for the second time, aims to offer as many people as possible (young
and old) as self-determined a work and living environment as possible. Living
space, buildings, public facilities and places, everyday products and
particularly the wide field of household-related services not only have to
reflect the changes in demographics, they also have to work proactively to help
shape them.
Anyone who has accepted the challenges in design for the next decades can
register for this competition up until December 15, 2008. Entries are welcome in
the following categories:
universal design
- Phone / Entertainment
- Domestic
- Leisure / Lifestyle
- Mobility
- Work
- Public spaces
- Communication
- Services
assisted living
This category calls for products, architecture and services for people in
special living situations that are designed to help them largely maintain and
lead self-determined lives, promoting independence and dignity.
All entries will be evaluated not once but twice: an international jury of
experts will select the winners of the "universal design award 09" and in a
representative survey, 100 test people will choose their "universal design
consumer favorite 09".
All the award-winning products and design solutions will be presented at the
new "design: driving innovation" special display at the CeBIT Show in Hannover
from March 4 to 8, 2009.
Dr. Ursula von der Leyen, German Federal Minister for Family Affairs,
Seniors, Women and Youth, will hold the laudation at the Awards Ceremony at the
CeBIT Show on March 4, 2009.
Starting immediately, entries can be made in the competition online at
www.ifdesign.de (organized
by iF).
