Urban Quality Award

Application Period: 9 May 2011 until 31 August 2011

As it did from 2006 to 2009, Eurohypo AG will this year once again award prizes to outstanding trend-setting projects in urban development. For the first time the bank will award its architecture and urban planning prize under the guise of an Urban Quality Award. The award is for development projects that help improve the urban quality of life through a successful interplay of construction and open space.

"As a leading bank for commercial property financing, Eurohypo has a particular responsibility to promote sustainable urban development," says Frank Pörschke, CEO of Eurohypo. "With the Urban Quality Award we want to highlight outstanding city development projects that take into consideration all the relevant factors - the environment, climate, society and the economy."

In past years Eurohypo, together with the International Urban Landscape Award, awarded projects that focused primarily on the landscape component in urban development projects. Starting with this year the focus will be on urban quality of life. For this reason, the name Urban Quality Award is now being used.

Innovate city development projects from Germany and Poland can apply for the award this year. The plan for future years is to include, along with Germany, other core markets of Eurohypo in the competition for the award. An international jury of experts will evaluate the projects.

The call for applications, the selection of the winner and the award ceremony will take place in close cooperation with the architectural journal Topos. The Technical University of Munich will provide its expertise to support and advise the process. The winners will be announced at an award ceremony in Frankfurt at the end of November.

The application period for the EUR 50,000 prize begins on 9 May 2011 and ends on 31 August 2011.
