The winner for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies von der Rohe Award 2009 has been announced. The Jury awarded the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, Oslo, by Snøhetta. The Emerging Architect Special Mention is going to Studio up, Croatia.
Register for the 2009-2011 session of the post-master diploma DSA Architecture and Heritage provided by the École de Chaillot / Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine. Submission deadline for applications: June 5, 2009.
Peter Zumthor of Switzerland has been chosen as the 2009 Laureate of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. The ceremony for awarding architecture's highest honor will be on May 29, 2009 in Buenos Aires, Argentinia. Zumthor has become famous especially through his Thermal Baths in Vals.
The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) has proclaimed April 2009 as National Landscape Architecture Month in the USA. Activities throughout the month introduce the green career choice to the public.
April 18, 2009 is the ICOMOS International Day for Monuments and Sites, a UNESCO endorsed initiative since 1983 to raise public awareness concerning the diversity of the world's heritage. This year's theme is Architecture and Science.
The American Institute of Architects and its Committee on the Environment have announced the 2009 COTE Top Ten Green Projects. The program honours projects of sustainable architecture and green design solutions that protect and enhance the environment.
Six projects related to the plan Raggi Verdi will be on exhibition from April 3 to June 18, 2009 at AedesLand, Berlin. Designed by the international team LAND the projects feature a new strategic approach to designing Milan's system of open space. Laboratory talk: June 12, 2009.
On February 3, 2009 the winners of the 2008 International Design Awards (IDA) competition have been named in Los Angeles, CA. The jury had to choose among 1000 entries from 52 countries to find the world’s most visionary designers.
The Office for Metropolitan Architecture has been awarded the first prize in the design competition to build the Taipei Performing Arts Centre. The design, led by OMA partners Rem Koolhaas and Ole Scheeren, was selected from over 135 entries from 24 countries.
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) College of Fellows has awarded its 2009 Latrobe Prize to the "GROWING ENERGY/WATER: Using the Grid to Get Off the Grid" research project. The UrbanLab team's plan aims to build a predictive model to support urban infrastructure construction.
