This year’s Emirates Glass LEAF Awards will be hosted by actor, writer and comedian Neil Mullarkey. The ceremony takes place on 4 September 2009 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Berlin, Germany.

Mullarkey rose to fame in the early 1980s when he teamed up with Mike Myers in ‘Mullarkey and Myers’. The pair performed sketches based on their shared love of cartoons, B-movies and bad television. In the 1990s Mullarkey appeared as a Customs Officer in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery as well as the follow up; Goldmember.

Mullarkey has since developed a performance career in theatre, television, cinema and radio. As a founding member of 'The Comedy Store Players', he regularly performs on the UK comedy circuit as well as running management workshops and hosting conferences for private and public organisations.

Opening Address by Jurgen Mayer
Jürgen Mayer, one of the world’s top architects, is attending this year’s LEAF International and will deliver the opening address. Mayer will be one of the many high profile speakers at LEAF International where the main focus of this year’s event will be on sustainable development and its application through sustainable construction within the industry.

The architect Jürgen Mayer has risen to international prominence in recent years due to a series of striking buildings beginning with Stadthaus in Ostfildern, Germany. Mayer studied at the University of Stuttgart as well as spending some time in America at Princeton University. He founded the office J. Mayer H. Architects in Berlin which focuses on the development of interfaces in architecture communication design and new media.
