London Festival (of Architecture)![]() Event: London Festival of Architecture (LFA) Organised by four leading architectural and cultural institutions, The Architecture Foundation, the British Council, New London Architecture and RIBA London; the London Festival of Architecture will examine the playful city and will focus on three London areas over three weekends:
Throughout the Festival the Royal Docks in East London will also be transformed into 'London's Pleasure Gardens', next to the Olympic venue at ExCel, with other events such as architects’ open studios and special exhibitions taking place across the city. The headline event Developing City Exhibition (architects24 informs) will take place from 21 June to 9 September. RIBA exhibition Dates: 25 June 2012 - 25 September 2012, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM As the world turns its eyes to London in 2012, Design Stories examines the architecture and engineering behind the 2012 sporting venues. It provides a unique Olympic experience - a place where people can explore and view drawings, images, videos and amazingly detailed models of London's key new sporting venues. The exhibition draws back the layers of complex engineering and explores the ideas and design principles that lie behind the venues. At its centre the exhibition features a stunning 14-metre graphic mural capturing the energy and contrasting styles of the new Olympic and Paralympic buildings.
