The 2011 Emirates Glass LEAF Awards returns for its 9th annual year on 16
September honouring the architects designing the buildings and solutions that
are setting the benchmark for the international architectural community.
There will be presented the best that global architecture has to offer this year
with strong competition from the likes of Populous who were the overall winner
in 2010 for the monumental Soccer City National Stadium - "The Melting Pot"
along with Boogertman + Partners.
This spectacular evening will be put together in association with leading
sponsor Emirates Glass. Renowned as one the leading processors of architectural
flat glass, Emirates continues to be a dynamic, market driven provider of
quality glass products. Furthermore, the 2011 judging panel will comprise of a
number of key individuals drawn from various areas of the international
architectural design and construction community.
This year's judges and host will include:
- Irving Brauer - the principal of Brauer Associates, a
highly focused team of marketing specialists with over 25 years' experience
in enabling and assisting clients to enter or expand their position in the
building specification market.
- Stephen Fisher - the Director of Momentum Engineering a
Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy based in Bath.
- Angus Brown - the Senior Director of Fraser Brown
MacKenna, a design-led practice formed in 1991.
- Lucy Bullivant - an architectural curator, critic and
author. She was elected for an Honorary Fellowship of RIBA in 2010.
The awards are open to all individuals and organisations that have made an
outstanding contribution to the world of architecture. Previous winners have
included Zaha Hadid, David Chipperfield, SOM, Steven Holl and Terry Farrell.
