Call for Papers: Bauhaus.SOLAR Congress
The discussion about the innovative, aesthetic influence of energy related
components on architecture and urban planning is a focal point at the
International Bauhaus.SOLAR Congress. Speakers may submit papers by 15 April 2011.
Submission deadline: 15 April 2011
Congress date and location: 8-9 November 2011 in Erfurt, Germany
There is a general consensus in society, politics and the economy that energy
supplies will be notably powered by renewable energies in the future. On 4
February this year, the European Head of States invoked greater energy
efficiency particularly in the building sector once again at the energy summit.
"Now it is a matter of taking action," says Dr. Hubert Aulich, Chairman of
the Thuringian network SolarInput, "because what we need for sustainable energy
use – especially in the building sector – is largely available: we have the
technology and the fundamental willingness in society!" To ensure that the implementation of solar construction will become ubiquitous, a rethinking among
product developers and in architecture is necessary in particular. Prof. Dr.
Gerd Zimmermann, Rector of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, stresses: "In
aesthetical and functional terms, the potential of building integrated solar
energy production is largely unexploited. We have to move away from simple
applications. What we need are new building and urban concepts."
The Congress promotes interdisciplinary dialogue and calls on planners,
architects, civil engineers, technicians, designers and users as well as
representatives of the solar, real estate and financial industries to present
ground-breaking concepts, projects and research papers. For the 4th
International Bauhaus.SOLAR Congress 2011, papers and (research projects) about the following topics can be submitted until 15th April:
- Architecture and solar structural elements
- Decentralised energy supply and networks
- Energy efficient construction and renovation
- Real estate industry and life cycles (energy considerations)
- Landscape architecture and energy facilities
- Urban development and sociological change
- Legal and economic considerations
The Congress is a project by the SolarInput Association in cooperation with the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the Thuringian Energy und GreenTech-Agency (ThEGA).
From year to year, the Bauhaus.SOLAR Congress is gaining increasing prominence:
the number of participants, exhibitors and the media echo has strongly increased
over the past few years. This year, the two day event is expected to have around 400 international visitors.
