The 2012 AIT-Award has been decided. The winners of the global architecture award received their awards and certificates. With almost 1,600 submitted projects, the AIT-Award developed into one of the largest competitions for architecture and interior design worldwide straight away.
Architecture and urban design in modern cities life, shall be honored through this prize. In 2012, the First Prize was awarded jointly to the renovation of the Ljublanica in Ljubljana/Slowenia and the landscaping of the peak of Turó de la Rovirain in Barcelona/Spain.
On 3 May 2012 the winners of the Wienerberger Brick Award 2012 have been announced at a ceremony in Vienna’s City Hall. Five international architects were awarded for their outstanding work, for projects using brick as a construction material.
From 22 May - 5 July 2012 masterpieces by Atelier Bow-Wow from Tokyo, are shown at Aedes Berlin. The Japanese office is known for their small housing designs within the dense urban areas of Tokyo. Three projects, e.g. the 'BMW Guggenheim Lab' show their view of open spaces.
Unprecedented ecological, climatic and energy change on a global scale. What could help to solve these problems on our earth? From 22 May - 5 July 2012 the exhibition "FutureCity-Lab" in the Aedes Berlin wants to find answers to some of these questions.
Foster + Partners have constructed the new Datong Art Museum in Datong, China. It is one of four major new buildings within Datong New City's cultural plaza. The museum will open in 2013 to represent China in the 'Beyond the Building' Basel Art international tour.
Henning Larsen Architects with Signal Architects and SLA Landscape Architects have won the competition for Nordea Bank’s new office building in Ørestad North, Copenhagen. The building will comprise Scandinavia's largest trading floor with a view of the green area of Amager Fælled.
"Putting the agenda back into architecture" that is what architect Joshua Prince-Ramus said at a lecture in San Diego at the New School of Architecture and Design (NSAD). It is time to inspire a new generation of architects and designers. Video online until 1 June 2012.
The Luminale - Biennial of the lighting culture has come to an end. Visitors and L+B exhibitors from all over the world have enjoyed the illuminations and lighting ideas. The trend towards projections on buildings and interactive installations continues with the digitalisation of light.
The Developing City exhibition, organised by the NLA - London's centre for the built environment, is the headline event of the London Festival of Architecture. It runs from 21 June - 9 September 2012 and takes place at the Walbrook Building, London/Great Britain.
