The worlds most inclined buildingThe construction of the Capital Gate Tower of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) is yet the development of another architectural highlight at the Persian Gulf. The 160 meter tall avant-garde building has the so far highest façade cladding in the Arabian area. Leaning four times more than the Tower of Pisa, the Capital Gate is going to be the world's most inclined building. An application has already been made for an entry into the Guinness Book of Records. The cladding of the spectacular façade consists of 580 different panels in various sizes summing up to an overall of 4915 m² of metal mesh by GKD - Gebr. Kufferath AG. The panels had to be shifted horizontally up to 25 percent to fit the exceptional shape of the building. The ability to form the stainless steel wire mesh plus its light weight made it the material of choice. The completion of the building is planned for the end of the year. Then, the 35-storey Capital Gate will host a 5-star Hyatt Hotel and some of the most exclusive office spaces in the Emirates. GKD was also involved in the installation of the Mediamesh® facade of the American Airlines Arena in Miami, USA: Mediamesh® conquers Miami. Further Information: |
